2015 CFDI Championship is at
WHAT: We have the special opportunity this year to hold the Central Florida Debate Initiative Championship at the Orlando Amway Center on April 16 before the Orlando Magic's Season Finale game against the Indiana Pacers.
WHERE: Participants will compete on April 9th at Timber Creek High School (rounds begin at 3PM) and those who qualify for the final round will compete on April 16th in a private room at the Amway Center on the Executive 4th floor.
SPECIAL PRIZE: Along with Championship trophies, Champions will be recognized in an award's assembly during a special pre-game ceremony held at Center Court!
REGISTRATION: The $25 registration fee is for STUDENTS ONLY! This fee covers the cost of the April 9 preliminary rounds AND the April 16 final rounds AND the cost for admission to the Magic game. If a student cannot afford the fee, PLEASE LET US KNOW! We will do our best to help. We will cover the cost for our coaches to attend the Magic game, but please let us know no later than March 24 if you plan to come.
1. This tournament is for novices only!
2. Your entry limit is 6 per event.
3. We will be using the April Public Forum Debate topic: Resolved: Prioritizing economic development over environmental protection is in the best interest of the people of India.
4. We will be using the March/April Lincoln-Douglas Debate topic: Resolved: Placing political conditions on humanitarian aid to foreign countries is unjust.
5. NFL rules for debate events. CFL rules for IE events.
6. A coach must be present.
7. DO NOT bring in backpacks, laptops, or outside food/beverages.
FAMILY AND FRIEND PARTICIPATION: Family and friends are invited to come to our final league championship and participate in the final debates, speeches, awards assembly, and of course, a ticket to the Orlando Magic game! YOU MUST BUY A TICKET FOR ENTRY AHEAD OF TIME!!! Please encourage friends and family to come to the game. If someone wants a ticket only, please have them pay online or via check. Friends and family who want to watch final rounds must arrive by 2:45PM on April 16, otherwise they can show up for regular entry time after 5:00pm.
